Two Polar Bear Flies were held in 1999. The Second Polar Bear Fly was held on New Year's Eve, 1999 since we are not permitted to fly on Saturdays (which would have been New Year's Day, 2000). The day was unusually warm, 63 degrees, and sunny -- hardly suited for Polar Bears and a far cry from last year's endurance test. The largest crowd the field has ever entertained came to fly or to watch. They must have already bought their Y2K survival supplies. You can compare this event to the First Annual, Second Annual, Third Annual, Fourth Annual, Fifth Annual, Sixth Annual, Seventh Annual, Eighth Annual, and Nineth Annual Polar Bear Fly. |
