Bob "Safety Coordinator" Patterson

Bob is a retired American Airlines pilot; he also flew with the Navy in Viet Nam. Bob likes to build models, especially scale, as much as he likes to fly them. Here he is with a Fokker D VIII complete with a scarfed pilot, Von Snappen Rollin.

The Ace is appropriately named because this ship is a handful. If you are lucky enough to get it airborne, you will land by crashing. Three people have tried to fly this German squirrel. This picture was taken after a major rebuild and shortly before another "landing". Bob says it will "fly" again. Seems as if he likes to rebuild as much as build.

Bob seems to have an admiration for German WWI aircraft. This one is a scale Great Planes Fokker Dr.1 triplane. He says, ?I was concerned about how a triplane would handle but she flies great with no bad habits. It is easy to see how the Red Baron had so much success with his Fokker; it can almost turn in its own space. Von Richthofen could change direction suddenly and immediately engage the enemy. This plane’s three wings look so good that biplanes don’t have the same appeal to me anymore.? Several others agree with him.
